LOTM: beauty.

today on ladies of the mountains we are sharing our mountain beauty tips.
for me, the most important beauty tip out there is sunscreen.
it surprises me how often people don't apply sunscreen!
being so close to the sun can be dangerous, even more so on sunny ski days.
a sunscreen with an SPF 30 or more will protect your face by blocking the harmful UVA and UVB rays but still provide you with a tan.
conclusion: you will still get color with sunscreen.
why they don't teach that in school baffles me.
it's a no brainer, people!
sunscreens

a great post-mountain product is Perfectly Posh's Tree Hugger.
i recently used it after a sunscreen filled ski day and my skin felt like buttah!

cowboys are fun to take photos of.

{little dude.  check out those spurs!}

{sleigh ride.}

{a whole lotta steak.}

{the waterin' hole.}
last week we went with some friends to the mill iron ranch.
sleigh ride + steak dinner + live music + cowboys = not sure how you can get more wyoming.
i guess by adding beer, that's how.
i just realized that i put a lot of meat photos on this blog.
sorry to all of you non-meat eaters...
but man, that steak was cooked to perfection!
i like my steak medium rare.
for future reference, of course.

locals note:  if you are interested in a sleigh ride, trail rides, or a huge steak dinner, contact mill iron ranch at 307.733.6390 or click here.

always a bride$maid.

{all photos by the insanely talented Trent Bailey}

everyone told me this would happen.
"just you wait," they said "all of your friends will get married in the same year."
and so it began on new years eve in new orleans!
my best friend threw the most fabulous NYE wedding.
she had two requirements for our bridesmaid dresses: long and sparkly.
not sure if you've ever shopped for long sparkly gowns but they are a tad pricey.
(especially from a gal who just traveled for 3 months and is in a handful of weddings this year.)
being the smartest/chicest girl i know, the bride suggested we Rent The Runway.

we rented, we danced, we felt like a million bucks.
then we kindly threw those gorgeous gowns in the return envelopes
and tossed them to the hotel concierge to mail off as we stumbled to the airport in the AM.
the color scheme turned out just as the bride had envisioned.
all for around $100, it was the greatest bridesmaid dress idea there ever was.
go on and get yourself a fabulous dress for your next occasion, click here to get started!

sidenotes:
- i also rented two dresses for the holidays which were a hit and $75 total.  #score.
- RTR sends you two sizes, just in case.
- i did try on my bridesmaid gown at their showroom in nyc in october, which was really helpful.
- i'm never paying full price for a dress again.
- the end.

one day in jackson hole.

if you need any more reason to come visit,
check out this beautiful edit for the trailer One Day in Jackson Hole
a film that is apart of the series One Day on Earth.
i think it captures our mountain town lives pretty well!
enjoy.

February 8, 2013

let's talk about these, shall we?

i think you all know by now my obsession with booties.
you can never have too many pairs.
i'm a firm believer that every mountain lady should have a few investment pairs.
i mean, it makes the cost-per-wear quite low, no?
thats how i justify it anyways.
a few that have caught my eye:
4. sam edelman  go-to dancin' shoes.
