oui, oui.

{isabel marant pour H&M scarf c/o H&M}
i get pretty excited when high-end designers team up with affordable brands.
its such a sigh of relief for us common folk.
what's even more exciting is when those collaborations are sold online.
H&M is known for teaming up with big timers but today is a big day...
Isabel Marant pour H&M is the first designer collection to be available online!
these incredibly fun and chic pieces are just perfect for the holidays.
add a little french into your life this season, non?

from now until april.

{flannel and cord skirt c/o horny toad // vest c/o h&m // target tights // hunter boots}
from now until late april, i can guaranteed to be spotted in at least one of the above
in some sort of variation or another.
all absolute essentials for staying warm from now until then.
i've discovered that cords are just warmer than jeans.  i'm hereby making that a fact!
my boots will transition to the warmer types
and oh, the puffy vest.  can i get an AMEN?!
you are every mountain man, woman, and child's best companion.
winter is in the air with the ski mountain opening on thanksgiving day (yippee!)
so i'll be bundling up from here on out.

slide lake in autumn.

coming home from an island trip to find the fall foliage was magical
but i was really sad to hear more details of the government shutdown.
the parks are closed and now is such an amazing time to experience them.
i decided to drive up to slide lake to get my fill of the changing aspen trees
and i was blown away. the aspens are simply stunning.
and a few buffs crossed the road at warm springs.

locals notes
- directions: head north towards the jackson hole airport // turn right towards kelly // continue past the town of kelly on gros ventre road // continue on gros ventre road about 6.5 miles.
- don't stop anywhere in gtnp on your way there to avoid fines. #lame
- hurry before as the leaves are changing fast!

a picnic in the park. {and bears}

{one of my favorite spots in the park}

{da bears.}
i've said this before and i'll say it again.
september is my absolute favorite month here.
we welcomed autumn with a little birthday picnic for a girlfriend yesterday in grand teton national park.
string lake is the perfect place to picnic, minus the bear encounter.
minor details.
this time of year the bears a hun-gray!
while my friends were hauling food into the bear box, i was snapping away.
this momma bear and her cub were too cute but way too close for comfort.
i think she was after those macaroons from persephone bakery.
happy autumn!

September 19, 2013

a very crisp day.

okay, so it snowed at the very tops of the mountains and today is a brisk one.
i guess that means fall is upon us and i need to just accept it.
(still praying for an indian summer.)
to get myself in the mood, i've been eyeing rich vino tones to add to my wardrobe.
i'm pretty sure the word "vino" would be high up on the list of most-words-used-on-this-blog.
well it IS a lifestyle blog, after all.

mountainista fall trend.

i can't tell you enough how much i love the cozy drape sweater.
i picked one up last winter and it quickly became a staple.
pair it with skinny jeans for a casual look or throw over a basic dress on those cold nights out.
i'm pretty excited for all of the fun drape sweaters right now, especially the ones above (all under $100)
with so many fun patterns out, get shopping!

upstate ny {part 2}.

{cutest little house on lake george}
{fall foliage in the north east}
{teaching me to sail}

can we talk about how cute that house on lake george is?
or how pretty the fall foliage was?
or how awesome it was to sail with jeff's family?
that part was my favorite.
or....how about how disheveled i look after i arrived back in NYC?
that's what i'm looking like these days, my friends.
backpack...leather coat...covered by rain jacket...two totes...a suitcase...and heels.
i'm not lying when i say i knocked over 4 people on the train.
all i need now is a neon sign that flickers vagabond above my head and things will be just perfect.

upstate ny {part 1}.

this is my first time to upstate new york and it won't be my last.
we've been staying on beautiful lake george eyeing the vibrantly changing leaves.
and taking full advantage of the empty lake with quiet boat rides and sails all to ourselves.
jeffers made this adirondack chair a few years ago and it now lives on a point of its own.
we are here until tomorrow so stay tuned for more photos!

tomboy tweed.

{tweed jacket: similar but loving this, this, and this // tshirt: gap // jeans: jbrand // booties: steve madden //
sunglasses: rayban // bag: gucci // cuff: inpink // earrings: steph spackman}

confession:  i'm a tomboy.
oh wait, you already knew that.
a huge draw to the western states for me was the laid back way of life and style.
not having to get dolled up for college classes was a big perk to the univ. of colorado.
and here in jackson, this tweed jacket is considered fancy pants.
a structured jacket adds a touch of lady to my t-shirt + jeans + ankle booties uniform.
i broke it out last night because fall arrived early this year and i'm so happy i caught a glimpse
before i head off on my 3 month excursion starting next week.
first stop... chicago marathon!

LOTM - hikes.

today on Ladies of The Mountains we are talking about our favorite hikes.
the very best day hike in jackson is hands down, jackson peak.
it's only a couple of hours and offers incredible views of jackson hole.
head up to curtis canyon and veer right at the fork in the road.
you'll get to a parking lot and just follow the trail all the way up.
this time of year is the best with the cool temps and the aspens changing = vibrant!
goodwin lake is also a great place to picnic or throw in your fly rod.
best to head up with a group of girlfriends, dogs, and life saving trail mix.
don't forget the bear spray!

check out these other ladies of the mountains:

September 26, 2012

that time we shot guns with mom...

{and she peed her pants laughing so hard after her first gun shot}
{and jeff showed us how to be a real cowboy.  again.}
{and osker freaked out and hid under the driver's seat}
{and i whipped out this down vest for the first time this year}
{and put my most favorite cowboy boots to actual use. (similar found here)}
{and my brother's and i decided to awkwardly pose with a gun.  the end.}

October 5, 2010

october

october is one of my favorite months.
probably because it's my birthday month.
i'm turning 25..eek!
clancy is turning 15...i think i'm more proud to announce that than my own age
the fall colors are to die for in the mountains and i'm trying to savor every day before winter arrives.
which could be any second.
