i'm by no means a style blogger so bear with me here folks.
things might get awkward.
i'm having a little fur fashion issue and i need your advice!
to vest or not to vest.
that is the question.
pretty rad, right?
well it's a wee bit big on me....or maybe the shoulder pads are throwing me off.
the big issue, you see, is that no one but tourists wear fur in jackson hole.
i'm debating if i should keep this bad boy as is and just rocking it
OR
turn it into a vest + maybe a few more vests + headbands for all my friends.
what would you do!?

don't do it. and, the last 3 photos are my fave. you are a beautiful and easy subject! smooches
Oooo that's a tough one. I would said make the vest, but 20 years from now you'll prob want it in one piece.
BTW: I love your bean boots! How many inches are they? Thanks!
Keep it the way it is! You'll prob regret it once the trend is out. Just get it tailored to fit you better, I think! Gorgeous coat, and your super lucky to have it!

Family over fashion. Just wear it! I do...all over NYC!
It is so beautiful Megs. You could find a thrifted fur and make a vest. That puppy...er...mink needs a be an heirloom!
Don't touch that coat! It's a classic.
you don't need my advice at all! YOU ROCK THIS :) its a gorgeous piece by the way.
so glad you could stop by and leave such sweet comments! You don't know how much it means to me :D

I think since its vintage and since it was your mom's I would keep it the way it is. Maybe you can get it tailored a bit at a furrier, though?
Keep it as a jacket, but is there a way to remove the shoulder pads? or maybe just tailor it, it looks slightly big - but if you hadn't said anything I probably would have thought it was meant to be that awesome!
I would get it tailored but wouldn't make it a vest...that's just me though. Do what you want! And I love your cute little sockies :)

I think you should just keep it and don't change it.

I would keep it the way it is. It is far to precious for you to mess with it. I agree with Jaclyn about the coat needing to be an heirloom.
love your oversized coat!

Oooh. I'm thinking a fur coat is mighty useful in Winter. Perhaps hem it to hip length so it's more practical and use the rest of the material for another vest or for headbands.
Google fur vest pattern and it's really easy!

As cool as a vest would be, there is always the risk that you will regret it one day...at which point there is no going back! I would say that the coat is so unique and classic that it is worth the investment of taking it to a good tailor to get it fitted to your body, and perhaps shortened to hip or knee length. I'd love to see what you decide to do with it :)x
Great coat! <3
DON'T TOUCH IT!!!!! it's gorgeous and so are you.
I'm loving this look! Looks so cozy!!

Thanks for the comment on my blog so I could find you! I'm now a follower! :)
& I say don't touch it. You might be happy with your decision now, but I say in about 10-20 years you are going to wish you hadn't touched it! :)
mink is a yes, always.
KEEP IT AS IS!!!!!! or give it to me and i'll keep it as is. =) it's gorgeous.
I love that I clicked "leave comment" to say "VEST! VEST! VEST! VEST!" to find that pretty much EVERYONE else is on the side of keep it as it is.
Now I'm conflicted!
I think a vest...
My mom claims to have left you a comment on this dilemma, but she wanted me to tell you that she is going to gift me the same exact coat. She says don't cut it, we could be twins (and look exactly like our moms did)!
thanks for Your visit:)nice here;)

It's perfect, just the way it is. What a gorgeous find! xxx

i think the fur vest is more of a trendy look and the coat will stay timeless! even if it's a little big, it's vintage :)
possibilities are endless! It would be a fun little shrug :)
I'm having a giveaway for a gorgeous Oia Jules bracelet if you want to check it out!

oh no, keep it the way it is. it looks gorgeous on you. and you never know who else might wear it in the future...
Nice coat :)
i think you should turn it into a vest!! of course, you can never go wrong with vintage.

Ha ha I would leave as is! What a fun piece to have!
It's pretty and it's a family piece, and it's clearly vintage so we know those minks were skinned a long time ago, but to me it's still a sad thing. But I live in California where fur just doesn't fly...in any situation.
