oui, oui.

{isabel marant pour H&M scarf c/o H&M}
i get pretty excited when high-end designers team up with affordable brands.
its such a sigh of relief for us common folk.
what's even more exciting is when those collaborations are sold online.
H&M is known for teaming up with big timers but today is a big day...
Isabel Marant pour H&M is the first designer collection to be available online!
these incredibly fun and chic pieces are just perfect for the holidays.
add a little french into your life this season, non?

from now until april.

{flannel and cord skirt c/o horny toad // vest c/o h&m // target tights // hunter boots}
from now until late april, i can guaranteed to be spotted in at least one of the above
in some sort of variation or another.
all absolute essentials for staying warm from now until then.
i've discovered that cords are just warmer than jeans.  i'm hereby making that a fact!
my boots will transition to the warmer types
and oh, the puffy vest.  can i get an AMEN?!
you are every mountain man, woman, and child's best companion.
winter is in the air with the ski mountain opening on thanksgiving day (yippee!)
so i'll be bundling up from here on out.

mountain feet.

dust off those old leather sandals from the late 90's
because birkenstocks are back!
if you're like me, you've got a pair stashed somewhere in your closet,
slightly embarrassed yet a tad proud of the unofficial mountain sandal.
i went to school in boulder....and i live in the mountains....
aren't i supposed to have at least one pair, just because?
oh the birks....they're kind of like a right of passage for mountain folk.
a must-have if you will.  (along with the ever so functional chacos)
sometimes comfort out rules style but if you ask me, there are some cute birks out there, see below.
it's hard to beat the perfectly molded leather for your soles. pun intended.
just please, for the love of good, do not add socks.

September 19, 2013

a very crisp day.

okay, so it snowed at the very tops of the mountains and today is a brisk one.
i guess that means fall is upon us and i need to just accept it.
(still praying for an indian summer.)
to get myself in the mood, i've been eyeing rich vino tones to add to my wardrobe.
i'm pretty sure the word "vino" would be high up on the list of most-words-used-on-this-blog.
well it IS a lifestyle blog, after all.

oxfords.

{photos by ashley merritt}
i have a thing for tomboy touches as you can see here.
the whole oxford trend seems to be everywhere this fall and i'm fully embracing it.
they pair perfectly with skinny jeans and my recent favorite, a pencil skirt for work.
the more you wear, the more worn in they get
and we all know a worn in oxford will last you for years.

more of my favorites below!

so many...

okay, so it's september.
by no means is summer over with.....i'm holding out until october.
but if you are like me, i like to stock up with my must-haves of the season before they sell out.
cus isn't that the worst?!
the good thing about booties in the mountains (or anywhere really):  you can wear them all year long.
and if you know me, i'm usually in a pair.
there are tons and tons of styles out there so grab em while you can.
a few different styles of booties that i'm coveting:

(clockwise from top)
the wrapped: dv by dolce vita
the colored: bcbgeneration
the everyday: sam edelman
the wedge: kork-ease
the cowboy: h by hudson
the two-toned: madewell

scroll below for more fall worthy booties!

pleather me.

{jacket and sunglasses c/o H&M // top old navy // jeans paige denim // shoes (old) same same but different}

{prize money for any local who can guess where this photo was taken.  hint: eskimos}

photos by ashley merritt photography

today feels like fall.  i can smell it in the air.
by no means am i okay with this but i might as well embrace it.
enter, the pleather jacket.
for the record, if i could own a closet full of real leather jackets, i most certainly would but my wallet just won't allow it and i think peta would come after me.
thankfully pleather is an awesome alternative.
there are tons out there, but the one i'm wearing won the online shopping cart award this month.
hurray for H&M finally being online!
its another great transition piece into fall so you'll be seeing it a lot in the early mornings and evenings when the mountain air is especially crisp.
is it obvious that i'm desperately trying to hold onto summer with my pink soles?
i'll go ahead and answer that as i'm clearly looking at them in every photo.

today is the last day to enter the H&M instagram contest.  get gramming for a chance to win a trip to NYC for a personal shopping spree.
come on wyoming gals, get your pics up! #HMShopOnlineWY

{dress c/o h&m // cowboy boots // shades coffee}

{photos by ashley merritt}

its fun to be friends with photographers.
and good photographers at that!
this town is full of 'em.
my friend ashley and i have the best time meandering around for these little H&M shoots.
i'm reppin' Wyoming here so we try to get western-y and fun backdrops.
we stumbled upon this badass old bus with Wyoming 22 plates.
(the 22 represents teton county aka jackson hole aka coolest place in the west)
if this bus belongs to you, apologies for awkwardly posing in front of it in the wee hours of the morn.
hopefully you got a chuckle and we might be back for more shoots.
oh, and please let me know if its for sale, mmmk?

this dress is another fabulous transition piece from H&M's new online shop.
loved pairing it with my cowboy boots.
have you started shopping yet?
there's still time to enter the instagram contest with your looks. (more info here)
get shopping, fall is right around the corner.
show some love with #HMShopOnlineWY!

summer wedding attire.

welcome to coast to coast styles!
i've teamed up with some amazing fashion bloggers from around the country to bring you helpful tips on how to dress for certain events in your neck of the woods.
first up, summer wedding attire....one of my personal faves.
for a rocky mountain wedding, i always turn to a fun maxi dress print and easy cowboy boots.
if the wedding isn't outside, you're guaranteed to walk on grass, a dirt road, or through a field.
save your stilettos and stay comfy dancing the night away.
temperatures in the summer drop significantly at night so i always bring a leather jacket to stay warm for the after party.

{similar maxi and some that are perfect here, here, and here // cowboy boots}
check out these summer wedding styles:
Caitlin from Style Within Reach - dc / east coast
Christin from With A CH - nyc
Jade from Jade Rose - pacific northwest
Sara from Glitter and Grace - southern california
