the hootenanny.

every monday night out in moose, wyoming (where moose frequently show their racks)
there's a little shin dig called The Hootenanny.
locals and sometimes traveling musicians sign up to pick some strings and sing their hearts out
while guests grub on chuck wagon fare and local brewskis.
the sunsets at Dornan's might be the best in the valley.
my friends and i grabbed some vino and snacks and enjoyed some raw talent on stage.
bravo to all who get up there!
i encourage all who visit to make this a stop on their trip.
its free and fun!
plus, there's a teepee, so i'm into that.

fireworks, how i missed thee.

{july 3rd at teton village}

{teton village fireworks.}
holy visitors!  i don't think i've ever seen this town as busy as it is right now.
there was a lot going on (and still going on) around these parts for america's berf.
food was devoured, music was grooved to, and fireworks were a-blazin'.
last year (see here) there was a fire ban that prevented any sort of sparking in the sky.
and let me tell you, a year without fireworks is like a year without....well i don't know but it sure was good to see them again.

with town being so busy, we jumped in the truck and headed over the pass to victor, idaho.
^^ the victor emporium huckleberry milkshakes are well worth the 30 minute drive, if you ask me.
they're world famous, you know.

we ended the day with live music, sparklers, and fireworks!
rock me mama....old crow medicine show sure was fun to see live.
i have a real thing for banjos.

get your boogie on.

live music has always been a huge part of my summers.
ever since i was a wee one and my parents were in a band.
um, we can talk about that later....
nothing beats dancing with friends in the warm evenings while sipping a cold brew.
jackson hole live has been hosting free live music this summer at the base of snow king mountain
where i just discovered sister sparrow & the dirty birds.  grace potter meets a 10 piece band.
i've got a new girl crush.

above is my guide to an easy and carefree boogie session this summer.
get the look below!

the wheeler bros.

{celebrating backstage post show}
have you heard of the wheeler brothers yet?
well if not, let me introduce you to your new favorite band.
these guys played at the Pink Garter Theater on tuesday and rocked it.
the band is made up of 3 wheeler bros (patrick, tyler, and nolan) plus aj molyneaux and danny matthews.
not only did they play a free show, they bought the entire audience a round of drinks.
i do not lie.
they are currently on tour this summer so check out if they are hitting your neck of the woods, here.
they head back to their hometown austin, tx this fall to play austin city limits.
you best be checking these boys out!

*local note: special thanks to Poppa Presents!

here's a video of my favorite wheeler brothers tune.  enjoy:

a new year

i usually find new years eve completely overrated.  plus, i've been super sick for the last two eve's so i haven't been able to enjoy myself.  this year i finally took some holiday time off and after driving 8 hrs to denver with my friend and his 90 year old great aunt stella, i flew to ohio for xmas, then back to denver for some skiing and good times.  we made it to the pepsi center for the widespread panic show (my fave band) to ring in the new year with family and friends.  we even somehow stole an empty box suite. thanks aaron!

the hippie in me suggests that you check out the show on panicstream.com, it will blow your mind!  no, but seriously, the show was amazing.  check it.

hope you all had a fun and safe nye!  cheers to a great 2011~

The New Mastersounds and Fox Street Allstars stopped by jackson last thursday.
awesome show at the pink garter. these guys are too much fun.
we had them over for a pre-get-funky dinner.
New Mastersounds are from the UK and we thought it appropriate to throw an old fashion american bbq.

good talks. amazing show. check them out next time they are in your neck of the woods.

I've got a girl crush...

{closing day at jackson hole mountain. jhunderground.com}

Every guy wants her. Every girl wants to be her.
She's the reason I seriously bought a pair of high waisted bell bottom jeans.

A new age Janis Joplin with an amazing voice, incredible hair, and the ability to rock a leather jacket like no other. And, she loves playing in Jackson.

If you ever have a chance to see Grace Potter live, I highly suggest going.
She will blow you away.

Voted "Best New Band of 2010" by Rolling Stones magazine.
Check her out for youself...
