this week past week i've been a lazy blogger.

primarily because i've been spending most of my time outside.

and running a lot, i have this little thing called a marathon to train for.

Jackson Hole....IN CHINA?!?

did you know that there is a new resort town in China named "Jackson Hole"?
i know, i'm confused too.  but it's true.
i guess the Chinese want to get their american west fix on too.
so they built a replica.
yet it doesn't look like jackson.....at all.
i hope someone tells them that cowboys only wear red cowboy hats in Toy Story.

my bosses are off in hawaii and thailand and i'm here holding down the fort.
instead of traveling for this off-season,
i'm heading back home for christmas to see my entire clan
(which is way better than traveling)
but i have the travel BUG.
and i've got it bad....

the wolf people.

{Lamar Valley, Yellowstone}

{setting up shop takes serious concentration}

at 6 am on saturday we left cooke city, montana and headed into lamar valley.
we were told to look out for a guy in a yellow xterra...he's the wolf man.
we found the yellow xterra.
plus other cars with license plates like "WOLFLVR" and "LONEWLF".
normal.
after a short hike we found 30 people all peering into their three thousand dollar scopes.
they'd been there since 4am so we were totally late.

after finally setting up our borrowed scope, (see above....such wolf amateurs.)
we spotted the pack.
incredible.
but i'd be lying if i said i thought they were more incredible then the pack of people watching them.

i had no idea these people existed.
one woman left her teaching job in san diego to move up here to watch wolves.
all. day. every. day.
they all knew each other and they all knew everything about the wolf pack.
i'm sorry but how the hell can you tell which pup belongs to which wolf at 2 miles away???
i'll give it to the pack peeps that at least they are passionate about something...
nat. geo should totally hire them.  or maybe document them.

i'm allergic to eggs.

i had my blood drawn a few weeks ago to see what exactly has been pissing my stomach off.
welp, of all the things.....eggs.
along with all dairy products.
boo, no more late night soft serve yogurt sessions for me.

modern fam in jhole.

last month, the incredibly hilarious Modern Family filmed their season premiere in jackson.
unfortunately i didn't get to meet my hero, al bundy....
they filmed at the gorgeous Lost Creek Ranch
and i seriously can not wait.

sorry for being mia lately, i know you all missed me terribly.

i've been an artEESt this week. spending all of my time in the hot shop.

attempting to auction off a piece i made last night.  whoop. whoop.

key word: attempting

if i make a couple bones, i'll be stoked.

these made me laugh out loud.  i've had some crazy ass neighbors since i've lived in jhole.  thankfully we only get frat parties nowadays.  i can live with frozen beers on my car at 8:00 am.  thanks cats!

last week my friends and i had a discussion about the world ending in 2012.
i'm a naysayer but a few of my friends (names left out to protect the gullible) are fearful that the world is over sooner rather than later.
i guess one reason to make them believe that the world is ending is something very strange that happened last week.  one of the gullible ran into our house screaming "there's something in the SKY!"  when we all ran out, we saw this (see above).

the photo stolen from jackson hole underground was not distorted in any way.
that is honestly what the night sky looked like and i was pretty creeped out.

according to jackson hole underground, when the temp drops to -20 degrees like last week, snow crystals create an illusion.  i won't bore your with my incredible scientific knowledge so you can read about it here
